What is Composite Fabric
Composite fabric is a material made by bonding two or more different fabrics or layers together, often
combining textiles with films, foams, or membranes. This creates a single fabric with enhanced performance
and unique characteristics.
Composite Fabric naturally provides light-filtering performance, comparable to having a 90 gsm lining
(shading rate 60%-80%).
Why choose Composite Fabric
- Thicker material provides better insulation and temperature control.
- Neater and more structured appearance.
- Composite lining enhances light-blocking performance.
- More durable and long-lasting.

- Order Width = Actual Inside Window Width
- Order Height = Inside Window Height
- Recommended window frame depth: 2 inches
- Our factory will apply at least a 3/8" deduction from the total width. Please do not make any deductions on your end. This deduction applies to the headrail width, not the fabric width.
- lf the width has a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round it down to the nearest 1/8"
- No minimum depth requirement
- Ordered Width= Outside Headrail Width
- Please add 4 to 6 inches to the measured width of the sash to avoid light gaps
- For height, add 4 inches to the measurement
Width Fraction & Length Fraction
- When measuring your window, if the dimensions are not whole inches, the extra fraction should be expressed in eighths of an inch. Please refer to the image below for reference.
-
As shown in the image:
The measurement shown is 21 1/8“, then select “1/8” for Width eights/Height eights.
Similarly, if the measurement is in 1/16“ or 1/32” increments, round to the nearest 1/8”.

Edging bindings are decorative fabric trims that enhance the style and elegance of bamboo shades. They add a polished and refined look to the shades while protecting them from damage, extending their lifespan.
Edge Binding Width: 1.5 cm (approx. 0.6 inches).
We recommend adding edging for the Ramie Bamboo Collection in Ivory, Beige and Coconut, as the natural fibers of these fabrics can cause the edges to unravel over time.

Curtain Measurement Guide
How to Measure for Pleated Curtains
Getting the right measurements is essential for a perfect fit. Follow these simple steps:
Measure Your Width
Measure the width of your window or rod. For full coverage, multiply by 1.5 to 2 times for gathered curtains.
Measure Your Drop
Decide where you want your curtains to fall - windowsill, floor, or puddling on the floor.
Account for Header Style
Add extra length for your header style. Tab top curtains need additional length for the tabs.
Width Types Explained
Width of one curtain panel
Combined width of both panels
Pro Tip: Always measure twice to ensure accuracy. Round to the nearest inch for best results.
Common Measurement Mistakes to Avoid
- Not accounting for the curtain rod or track width
- Forgetting to measure at multiple points (width and drop can vary)
- Not considering the header style when measuring length
- Ordering curtains that are too narrow for adequate gathering
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need inside or outside mount?
Inside mount curtains fit within the window frame, while outside mount curtains hang from above or on the wall. Outside mount is more common for pleated curtains.
Should my curtains touch the floor?
This depends on your preference. Floor-length curtains create a clean, modern look. Slightly puddling curtains add a more relaxed, luxurious feel.
How wide should my curtains be?
For proper fullness, your total curtain width should be 1.5 to 2 times your window width. This ensures beautiful gathering when closed.

Nature's Beauty Marks
ViewTailor woven wood shades are crafted from natural fibers such as bamboo, wood, flax, ramie, and jute.
Bamboo
Flax
Ramie
Jute
These materials carry their own inherent variations in color, pattern, and knots—unique "beauty marks" that define the authentic character of each shade. What truly sets ViewTailor apart is our engineered weave structure and manufacturing craftsmanship. Our weaves are specially designed to minimize bending and twisting while significantly enhancing overall stability and durability. Every detail is deliberate—so you can see the difference and feel the quality.
Bamboo
After being cut, shaved, flattened, and kiln-dried, bamboo strips are arranged in alternating directions and woven together with multiple yarn threads. This structure gives rigid bamboo its flexibility, allowing natural curvature while maintaining a smooth, even fall when lowered.
- Multi-thread construction reduces stretching, breakage, and fading.
- Enhances the overall strength and longevity of the woven shade.
- The small, irregular dot-like textures are natural marks left behind where branches or bamboo shoots once grew.

Yes! Because our woven shades are handcrafted on traditional looms from 100% natural fibers (bamboo, reed, flax, and jute), subtle variations in texture, color tones, and natural knots are expected and celebrated. They are authentic hallmarks of organic, handcrafted artistry.
Because natural materials and screens vary, we strongly suggest ordering our $2.99 Bamboo Shade Books first. You can touch the authentic woven texture and see the true color under your room's natural lighting. Every sample purchase includes a $10 coupon credit towards your custom shade order.
Natural woven materials have organic gaps that filter 30%–50% of sunlight for a breezy, sun-dappled glow. For complete privacy or bedroom darkness, choose our sewn-in Privacy Liner (50%–75% shading) or Blackout Liner (96%–100% shading).
Our bamboo shades are kiln-dried and warp-resistant, suitable for well-ventilated kitchens and powder rooms. For direct splash zones or high humidity, ensure good airflow. Clean simply with a feather duster or gentle vacuum brush; avoid water soaking.
Every piece is custom handcrafted to your exact specifications. Tailoring takes 5–8 business days, followed by 5–7 business days of express delivery to your door. We offer 100% Free Shipping on all orders across the United States.

I have a weird-sized window, which apparently nobody makes blinds for. Custom sizing from this site was a lifesaver. Fit like a glove, no gaps on the sides, and the whole thing looks intentional and clean. If you have old-house windows like mine, don't bother with standard sizes. Just go custom.
